HISTORY / CURRENT RACING BOAT / HYDROPLANE '' 3 PUNTI ''

FB Design Hydroplane history, begun in 1972 with the construction of the "MOSTRO", the first Kevlar boat built in Europe (listed in the Guinness Book of World of Records) whom despite its age made a third overall in the 2001 famous historic 440 km Pavia Venezia race. It was a revolutionary 3-pointer, with a V-shaped stern and a surface drive propeller. Powered initially by a 2000 cc Alfa Romeo engine, so as to compete in Class S3 events, it right from the beginning demonstrated its capabilities by winning 5 consecutive races. Later re-powered a 2500 cc BMW engine, it won the Pavia-Venice race in 1977 averaging 126 km/h.

Following this successful hull, FB produced a series of hydroplanes whom suxceeded establishing for the Diesel class world speed records, endurance world records of 1 and 2 hours. From the continuous thrive for excellence and innovation, the diesel record boat was in the year 2000 transformed to the sophisticated Lycoming gas turbine power Hydroplane, winner of the Pavia Venezia in 2001 and 2004 with an outstanding average speed of over 197 km/h.

With this incredible boat, Fabio_Buzzi repetitively broke the world speed diesel record in 1992 and became the first European pilot to have pushed a boat beyond 250 km/h! Peculiarities of this incredible vessel are the entire Kevlar reinforced construction and the structural resistance augmented by the use of Kevlar unidirectional tapes and the reinforcement of the front two sponsoons through the application of two external metallic rods.

A custom designed and built driving capsule, similar to those of the modern fighter jets, is installed at the center of the boat and features an FB patented automatic release systems, which in case of accident or capsize of the boat comes loos from the boat body and allows for safety rescue of the pilot.
